Are You Blogging Enough?

Most small and medium-sized business owners already wear more than one hat. Chances are, if you are the owner of a business, you are also the marketing consultant, copywriter, and social media strategist. You probably also answer customer calls while your front office team is on lunch or takes a vacation.

For most overwhelmed business owners, a consistent blog is at the bottom of the neverending priority list. Unfortunately, if you aren’t keeping a consistent blog on your company website, you are missing out on the opportunity to create loyal customers and to find new potential clients online.

Timing Is Everything

Blogging was huge in the early 2000s, but it faded a bit in the mid-2010s. However, we are seeing a resurgence in the blogging space in the past year. No matter how popular the artform of blogging is, it is always a crucial part of your business digital marketing plan.

At a minimum, you should be blogging one time per month on your company website. You should also be writing consistently, meaning you aren’t skipping months of writing. Consistently adding monthly content to your website will help with your search engine optimization as well as leverage you as the industry leader in your local area.

Get People to Read It

If you are taking the time to write a monthly blog post for your business, be sure you are also taking the time to assure the content gets to your readers! Once your blog is posted to your site, share it via your social media feeds (both personal and professional), as well as adding its link to your electronic newsletter. You can even print out the content and include it in your printed marketing materials to pass out to customers or referral sources.

Make It Relevant

Now that you are writing a blog at least monthly, you may find you are struggling for topics. If you can’t think of something to write about, consult your team to find out common questions or inquiries they are hearing. Then, write about that. You always want to write about what your potential customers are thinking about, questioning, or researching online. This approach will help your topics stay relevant and will increase search engine exposure.
